Volunteer English Tutors Needed
We are looking for volunteers with teaching, tutoring or ESL experience who would be interested in tutoring newcomers who are beginners in English.
For more information or an application pack, please contact Erinn Burke.
Last Friday, some of the NCC staff put their baking skills to work and put together cookie baskets for our partners in refugee resettlement for the #NCCCookieMonster #DayofThanks. We appreciate all the community support we have received. Here is an excerpt from Dr Rosana Salvaterra's email to staff at Peterborough Public Health: "THANK YOU to all of you, both here at 185 King Street and at our Peterborough Square clinic for taking such good care of our newcomers!"
We are honoured to have been a finalist in this year's Peterborough Business Excellence Awards and very excited that many newcomers have been recognised in the various award categories. Our congratulations to Nigina and Khaja of Ariyana, Carolina's Colombia, Catia Skinner of Mega Experience, JunGeon Kim for your awards and to our many Friends and Supporters who were recognised as finalists for their contribution to #TeamPtbo. Kudos to Michael VanDerHerberg for his "4 under 40" award, joining previous recipients Hajni Hos and Jason Stabler!

Established in 2008, the Peterborough Immigration Partnership (PIP) is a community-based partnership of individuals and organisations (including the New Canadians Centre) which envisions a community where the meaningful economic, social and cultural integration of newcomers ensures a prosperous and inclusive community for all.
The work of the PIP is guided by the Community Immigrant Integration Plan 2016-2021 which articulates the goals that need to be met to achieve meaningful integration in a welcoming community and carried out by PIP working group.
Any organization, municipality, business or individual in the Peterborough region can become a member by endorsing the vision and mandate of the Peterborough Immigration Partnership and committing to working towards achieving the goals of the Community Immigrant Integration Plan 2016-2021. For further information and to become involved with plan implementation, please contact Jason Stabler.
TOMORROW!
Please join us on Wednesday October 26, 1-3pm at St. James United Church for the unveiling of our Community Immigrant Integration 5-year Work Plan. We will share the projects that we will undertake over the next five years. Syrian filmmaker Amro Khito will also be speaking about Nibi / Maa’, a short film that explores the emerging relationships between newcomer and Indigenous communities. The film was produced with Sarah DeCarlo, a mixed blood artist of Italian and Ojibwe ancestry living in Peterborough. Lunch will be provided.
Call for items
We are accepting a limited number of items as we have a limited storage capacity. Currently, we are looking for new and gently-used car seats and booster seats.
