Free Conferences for Illinois Parents of Children with Vision Loss
Parents of children with vision loss will have a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents as well as learn from experts at two FREE conferences. Pediatric Cochlear Implantation: Learning and the Brain was recently published by Springer. This text was edited by Nancy M Young, MD and Karen Iler Kirk, PhD.
The chapter on early intervention programs was written by Maribeth Lartz and Tracy Meehan, who are well known to many of you for the ISU post graduate education certificate program for professionals in the fields of audiology, speech pathology and deaf education who provide early intervention services. A chapter entitled “Redefining Cochlear Implant Candidacy To Appropriately Include Children with Additional Disabilities” was co-authored by Nancy Young, Beth Tournis and Connie Weil of Lurie Children’s.

On the second day of the two-day festival, films of the finalists will be shown in each seven film categories among four school categories. Winners in each category will be announced by the end of the night. The award ceremony will be followed by a reception and refreshments. Adults $20/ Students $4
