The SBT team had a great time serving the people of Thailand last summer. They wanted to keep supporting in different ways throughout the year. We met over tacos several times last summer in SoCal and out of that they came up with THAILAND ENGLISH LEARNING PROGRAM. Summarizing the goals and general structure in their own words:
GOAL: Create an internet-based curriculum for English conversations to help Thai students practice their language skills. Use gifts, talents, and technology to build relationships and share the gospel.
GENERAL GUIDELINES & STRUCTURE:
Total Duration of Pilot Program: 8 weeks - split into two 4-week "semesters." After 4 weeks, we can discuss what's working/what isn't, and adjust accordingly. If we want to make the program longer, we can always extend the program in the future.
Total Duration of Each Session: 30 minutes.
Mediums of Communication (listed by ease of use): Facebook Chat, Google Hangouts, Skype
Discussion Topics: introductions, ordering food, pop culture, Christian devotionals, etc.
Some women at Rahab also expressed interest in online English lessons so I shared some websites that offer free English conversation; I learned of these websites during our discussions with SBT. The SBT team will focus on the children at Mango House, but I see potential for online English ministries elsewhere in the future. Please feel free to share other ways you can help out without leaving your home.
Sarah and Timothy arrived safely in SoCal and are enjoying their time with family and friends. Lydia will join them in a few days for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
