Join White Box Gallery for an artist talk with
Christopher Michlig. Michlig will discuss his current exhibition An Inventory of Effects.The exhibition presents groupings of collages, paper wall-relief works, cardboard sculptures, silkscreen prints and a 3-minute looping 16mm film projection, working in ensemble as an expanded representation of the artists’ studio practice.

Join Susan Pavel at the Portland Art Museum for a close look at the exhibition Restoring the Breath and the remarkable resurgence of Coast Salish Weaving over the past 40 years through master-apprentice relationships. This talk at the Museum takes place in advance of the workshop Coast Salish Twined Weaving on November 5 and 6 at Wildcraft Studio School in Portland.

Art Critic Bob Nickas:
100 Paintings / 100 Years

Join PICA for a talk with New York-based critic and independent curator Bob Nickas. Nickas will present his musings on 100 paintings, choosing one from each year from 1915 through 2015. Beginning with Malevich’s Red Square and ending with John Armleder, Nickas suggests that painting is, and perhaps has always been, an assisted readymade.

Lee Kelly: AFO 2016 Honored Citizen

On October 13, 2016, at the Oregon Convention Center, the Architecture Foundation of Oregon celebrated
Lee Kelly as their 2016 Honored Citizen. Kelly’s contributions to Oregon’s designed and built environment are visible throughout Oregon as you drive along the freeway, stroll through the park, or hurry to class on campus.

Diverse Perspectives: Collecting Contemporary Native American Art

At Froelick Gallery, Four highly distinguished arts professionals will discuss the most current issues and concepts affecting indigenous artists and their patrons. Francene Blythe, Jennifer Complo McNutt, Rebecca Dobkins and Karl Davis will make up the panel which Charles Froelick will moderate.
This marks the sixth in a series of art conversations on interpreting, understand and collecting presented by the members of the Portland Art Dealers Association.
