Collaboraction Collaboration

The Mars Assignment is a new play written and directed by Ronan Marra, co-created by Elsa Hiltner, and presented by Collaboraction Theatre. The play that takes a look at those living with depression and the loved ones around them, resulting in a story that is compelling, moving, and opens the door to how we perceive and relate to others who are not be so different from ourselves. Every performance is followed by an open discussion with co-creator Elsa Hiltner, a representative from NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), and special guests from our other community partners.

Chicago Women's Health Center is proud to be a community partner for this production and we will have representatives from our counseling team participating in a conversation surrounding this new and exciting piece of theatre at the following performances:

Sunday, November 13th at 3pm (featuring Mary Madrake, Intern, and Lee Jacobs Riggs, Staff Counselor)

Friday, November 18th at 7:30pm (featuring Susan Manning, Intern, and Tina Lee, Staff Counselor)

Friends of CWHC can receive a 15% discount by using the code PARTNER. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit collaboraction.org. See you at the show!

Welcome, Interns (Part 2)

Classes are in full-swing across the city for our Outreach & Education Team! This year, they are being aided in bringing sexual health and healthy relationship education to students across Chicago by Micquel, our dedicated OE intern. Micquel is a second year student in UIC's Master of Public Health program with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health.

What interested you about CWHC?
The feminist health model, trans services offered, and affordable health care.

What are you most looking forward to, in your time with CWHC?
I look forward to evaluating the data from the sexual health education classes and helping to continually improve the OE program in any ways that I can!

Who do you look to for feminist inspiration?
I look to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for feminist inspiration because she is defying the standards of beauty and what it means to be a woman. She shares her experiences as an African in America and how that differs from an African-American, and she has expressed her journey as a feminist despite the beginning of this journey being plagued with finding the right balance between femininity and traditionally masculine characteristics.

We're so happy to have you with us, Micquel!
