Dear  <<First Name>>

Welcome to the November 2016 edition of your BNI Australia Newsletter.

The most important choice to make before Christmas – to hit the brakes or to hit the accelerator.

The end of the business year is rapidly approaching and it is easy to become absorbed in the Christmas cheer, relax and take some time off. To put on the brakes and slow down before the big day is tempting especially as personal priorities seem to be at the forefront of our minds.

Despite how enticing this may seem, you must make the conscious decision to either hit the brakes or to hit the accelerator. You can speed up this November and make use of this month to be more productive and set both your business and your chapter for success.

Productivity is more than just “working harder”, it is the act of working effectively and efficiently without burning yourself out. The sense of accomplishment and fulfilment at the end of a busy month will make the road bumps you encountered along the way, worth it. So, hit the accelerator this November and race towards the finish line.

Before we begin, congratulations to all the regions on a very successful September - the results image is included below in case you missed it on our Facebook Page.

The Importance of Forward Planning

On the road to your achieving your business goals, it is important to evaluate past performance and to plan for the future. Forward planning is often overlooked but very useful in anticipating future risks and how to deal with them.  Think back on all the challenges that you have faced in 2016 and how they can be avoided. Gather your staff together and think about the future for your business. Discuss what you want to achieve, Where do you want to be, What strategies can you implement to achieve your short-term and long-term goals? Consider all of these to create one unanimous plan of attack for 2017.

Not having a future plan is dangerous and risky. It increases the potential for things to go wrong and the potential to loose everything that you have worked hard to achieve is higher. You are then diving head first where there are no contingency plans in place.

Re-Contacting Old Connections

As circumstances and situations change, it is unavoidable that sometimes things become distant between you and your networks. Re-contacting old connections may seem daunting but due to the abundance of online tools, it is now even easier to re-connect. No more awkward phone calls to their new office, thanks to platforms like LinkedIn, it is now quicker and easier to catch up with old networks.

How to reach out after losing touch discusses the tips and tricks one must keep in mind when re-connecting to avoid any awkward exchanges. November is the perfect chance for you to catch up with an old acquaintance or friend, so give them a buzz and let them know you want to catch up.

Have You Planned How You Are Going To Say Thank You?

Undoubtedly, your clients are important, they are the ones that provide you with the opportunity to do what you do. So, have you thought of a way to say ‘thank you’ yet? Whether it is something small or big; it is nice to be appreciated. It is no surprise that “thank you’s” are extremely powerful. Thanking a client for their time is important as it makes them feel valued and special, and that the decision to do work with your business is worth it. So, how are you going to say ‘thank you’ this year?

Thank you in business discusses the significance of showing gratitude on a professional level and illustrates that thanking someone is always free-flowing. It also notes that being professional isn't always rigid and formal, and that sometimes it can seem generic and impersonal, hence why being friendly can show your sincerity and appreciation.

So as we head into this busy networking season reach out to some old contacts and invite them along to your BNI meeting or to catch up ver a cup of coffee, its amazing where this cam lead.

We are looking forward to sharing your thoughts and ideas on BNI’s social media channels. Email social.media@bni.com.au for a chance to see your comments on our Facebook page or blog.

Until soon, in your next BNI newsletter edition.

Warmest regards,

Frederick Marcoux
