Murkowski Campaign Spent Over $240,000 On Steak Dinners
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this release stated over $240,000 was spent during the third quarter. It was spent during the 2016 election cycle.
Anchorage, Alaska. October 26, 2016 -- A review the 2016 election cycle FEC filing for Lisa Murkowski found that her campaign spent over $240,000 on steak dinners.
The exact figure--$241,979--represents more than the Joe Miller campaign has spent to date, though a poll published within weeks of Miller entering the race showed him within single digits of the incumbent senator.
Most of the money spent on lavish dinners was done outside the Last Frontier, apparently to wine and dine her special interest friends.
“The cavalier attitude Lisa Murkowski has used in spending contributors’ dollars reflects a Big Government mindset she has employed in spending taxpayer’s hard-earned dollars in Washington, D.C,” Joe Miller stated.
If Alaskans want responsible government, Murkowski needs to go.
Since she was bequeathed the senate seat from her father, the National Debt has gone up over $13 trillion. On her watch, the United States has accrued more than twice as much debt than during its previous 226 years as a nation.
Murkowski is the most liberal Republican up for Reelection, having voted with President Obama over 72 percent of the time during the last senate.
“The 36 year Murkowski dynasty has led Alaska and helped lead the nation down a dead end road,” said Miller. “If we want to change the course of our state and nation, we must change the people we send to Washington, D.C.”
