Children re-create their own Great Fire of London

Year 2 children at Thomas Willingale School recreated the Great Fire of London in the playground.

The children used their design and technology skills and history knowledge to build realistic model houses.

Headteacher Teresa Phillips said: "We then congregated together to re-create the events from 350 years ago.

"The first house was lit and the children watched in awe as the fire quickly spread across our own 'Pudding Lane.'

"Assisted by the adults, they then filled their fire buckets with water from our own 'River Thames' and passed them along the line to help extinguish the flames.

"They all thoroughly enjoyed the event and have produced some fantastic writing following on from their experiences."
