EMC Planning Group Redesigns the Sand City Website

EMC Planning Group is very excited to announce the launch of the newly redesigned and improved Sand City website. In collaboration with City staff and City Council members, EMC Planning Group revamped the City website to improve its overall appearance, ease of navigation, and search functionality. Also, key areas of the website were improved with additional content.

Sand City Embarks on Vibrancy Planning

EMC Planning Group is currently assisting the City of Sand City in undertaking a three-year effort to establish a Sand City Vibrancy Plan for the West End and South of Tioga districts. The goal is to implement the Sand City General Plan vision of a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly area with housing, restaurants, and entertainment, in addition to the arts community and the many service businesses that already exist in the districts. The Sand City Vibrancy Plan, which will include a vitalization strategy, approaches for promoting new business, opportunities to enhance the visual character of the area, and ways to attract residents and visitors to shopping and dining opportunities. The Sand City community is encouraged to participate in the formation of the Sand City Vibrancy Plan. To this end, the city hosted a booth, staffed by EMC Planning Group, at the August 2016 West End Celebration where the plan was publicized and community input was gathered.

Natural Resource Management and
Biological Services

EMC Planning Group offers a wide range of natural resource management and biological services. We prepare biotic resource assessment reports, environmental compliance documents, wetland/waterway assessments and delineations, arborist reports, and special-status species and nesting bird surveys. In addition, our firm offers consultation and permitting services for several regulatory programs, as well as consultation regarding state and federal endangered species regulations.

Supporting the New Generation of Planners

EMC Planning Group has been a long supporter of the California Planning Foundation, a charitable organization whose goal is to further the professional practice of planning in California. The primary focus of the California Planning Foundation is to provide scholarships and awards to deserving university students. This year, EMC Planning Group made a donation to the general scholarship fund as well as the Ted Holzem Scholarship fund. A Day on the Green.

For the fifth year in a row, EMC Planning Group proudly sponsored a hole at the Monterey Bay Chapter of the American Public Works Association's 5th Annual Golf Tournament. This annual event raises funds for scholarships to benefit university engineering students. Ron Sissem, Bryce Ternet, and Stuart Poulter with EMC Planning Group were there to support this worthy cause.

Congratulations to Our Staff on Their Anniversaries.

Teri Wissler Adam, Vice President and Senior Principal, is celebrating her 25th work anniversary with the firm. Her integrity, commitment to client satisfaction, and expertise in CEQA/NEPA has been invaluable to the success of the company.

For the past 25 years, Teri has been involved in countless projects, in numerous cities and counties. Her past achievements include being a presenter at many CEQA seminars for both Lorman Education Services and the Association of Environmental Professionals; serving as a contributor for California’s Coalition for Adequate School Housing’s Environmental Mitigation Handbook; and serving as the past Director/President/ Newsletter Editor for the Association of Environmental Professionals of the Monterey Bay Area Chapter.
