Hi everyone and welcome especially to those who have recently joined our clan! It's hard to believe we're in the final term already, gearing up for Christmas gigs! There's lots to fill you in on, so please read on...



"Captured" at the Adelaide Gaol
On Sat 8th and Sun 9th October Vocalize performed two concerts to sell-out audiences at the Adelaide Gaol. It was a fantastic night! Check out the photos of the performance via our website.
Thank you to those who encouraged audience members - approximately $2450 was raised, which will cover the costs of our new PA equipment and go towards ongoing running costs for the choir. Thanks to all who participated and especially to the Choir Builders Team who put in extra time and energy to make it a great success.
 

Christmas Performances
We have three Christmas gigs this year, feel free to invite your friends and family along to any of these free performances:

Christmas Break Up Party
On Mon 12th Dec we will be partying at the Verve Bar & Kitchen (Westfield Marion) to farewell a huge year!

KRIS KRINGLE: For those who would like to participate in the Kris Kringle please bring a wrapped gift to the value of $10. (It can be practical/silly/yummy/fun or just plain odd!)



2016 Survey
At the conclusion of every year we conduct a survey of all members to gain feedback on the year. This feedback is very valuable to us and also gives you an opportunity to reflect and provide input into the choir. Please take 5 minutes to fill out the survey here.



2017 Information

FIRST REHEARSAL
Our first rehearsal back will be Mon 30th January, 7pm - 8:30pm.

FEE STRUCTURE
Please note that due to budgeting we have needed to increase fees in 2017. These cover costs including rehearsal venue hire, sheet music, insurance (public liability, performer indemnity and equipment), performance license, ANCA membership and other important costs.

The 2017 fee structure will be as follows:

Term 1    $120*
Term 2    $90
Term 3    $65
Term 4    $40

With approximately 35 rehearsals across the year this equates to around $3/week.
*For those that wish to pay by instalments, Term 1 members can arrange a payment plan with the choir treasurer, which will need to be finalised by the end of Term 1.

PIANO ACCOMPANIST
Our wonderful pianist Heidi Schutz is taking a leave of absence next year to gallivant around the world (again?!?!) She will be replaced by Kimberly Wong, a current Year 12 music student from Brighton Secondary School. We wish Heidi all the very best on her adventures abroad.

SUPPORT ROLES
As a growing choir (over 22 new members this year), it is increasingly important to have active support from members to help keep the 'choral cogs' a-turnin'. Next year we welcome the following people into support roles:

Treasurer - Sally Hyam
Librarian - Annette Pelling
Performance Liaison - Jen Burford

A huge THANK YOU to Jen Gilbert for all her amazing work thus far, multitasking many of these roles over the past few years!

SECTION LEADERS WANTED!
As a result of growing membership, next year each section will have 2 section leaders to support their group. If you are interested in being a section leader please let me know. The role would include the following tasks:

• Receive absence messages and mark in attendance sheet
• Host newcomers and buddy up with a member from the section. (Newcomers are to share their buddy’s music until they become financial)
• Lead sectional rehearsals when needed
• Follow up unexplained absences (i.e, when someone is absent for several weeks in a row)
• Arrange collection of missing music from discontinuing members if they are not able to drop it in at the church
• At the end of the year, ask each member whether they intend to continue or discontinue the following year

UPCOMING POTENTIAL PERFORMANCES 
2017 will include a range of smaller performances, all of which are yet to be confirmed but may include the following:

• Marion Celebrates (March)
• Adelaide Eisteddfod (May)
• Adelaide Sings (October)
• Adelaide Airport

As you can see, there's lots to look forward to! But in the meantime, it's time for Christmas bells and tinsel! All the very best for a meaningful and fun Christmas season, and I look forward to seeing you all back again next year!
