Garden of Wonder 🕵🏾 🐛 🕵🏼 🌺

There are a number of inspiring things that happen in the garden every week, and one of my favorites, is when young farmhands get up close and personal with nature. Whether that involves observing caterpillars, funky, brain-looking flowers, or digging for worms, it all provides valuable exposure to some of Mother Nature's wonders. Living in the city, especially in the age of cell phones and the internet, it's easy to ignore or miss the subtle, and sometimes, not so subtle, hints that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves. Hopefully, these moments will nurture the ideas of wonder, appreciation, and peace 🙇🏾 🙏🏾 ✌🏾

SW Gardens Secretary Position -- Open!

Want to help support the garden besides growing delicious produce? Join the SW Gardens leadership team!!

We are currently looking to fill a secretary position this coming year. The terms for all Committee members is three years, with a limit of two terms for all Committee members.

The Secretary's role is to take minutes at meetings, manage the wait list, and help plan future events and shape the garden's future.

Deadline to submit nominations is November 30, 2016 by 5pm.  We expect to hold an election in December for this position in order to start 2017 with a full leadership team.

Many thanks to Emily Cloyd and Sona Karia for serving in these roles, respectively, for the past year(s).  They've both been great to work with and ensured that outreach to individual gardeners and bed maintenance was kept up. Emily will still be in the garden, so be sure to thank her when you see her!  Sona has moved out of SW 😢 , but we hope to see her back in the garden soon!

[Repost] Mark Your Calendar: Oct. 30th, Community Harvest Party + Get-Together At Westminster Presbyterian Church

To close out the gardening year, we'll be having a joint celebration with the local church, Westminster Presbyterian. People of all ages and faiths are invited to celebrate the end of the growing season, Halloween, and each other's company. Costumes are encouraged, and so are recipes! The church has a kitchen in its basement so we'll be able to cook garden produce together.

Hope to see you in the garden!
