Mālō ni,
It's nearly time for the Prime Minister's Pacific Youth Awards. This is a huge opportunity to showcase the impressive talents and achievements of our youth. Please help us spread the word and encourage the talented young people you know to submit an application. There are some incredible prizes being offered, courtesy of our kind sponsors, and I know from speaking to our alumni what a difference winning an award can make to a young person's life. I look forward to updating you on the event in next month's Fetu Pasifika.
It's the last of 2016's Pacific Language Weeks, and we're taking time to celebrate Tokelau. New Zealand is home to the largest population of Tokelauans in the world, and our nations enjoy close personal and political ties. The Ministry has worked with the community to develop a learning resource - you can find it on our website, mpp.govt.nz. This year the Pacific Language Weeks have gone from strength to strength, and we really value how the community have taken them to heart. Thank you for your ideas, involvement and energy in helping us to showcase Pacific language and culture.
Fakafetai lahi lele,
Pauline A Winter
Chief Executive, Ministry for Pacific Peoples
