The Unveil
By Isabel Smirk

Children from our local school Green Bay primary, have recently unveiled an artwork at Rahui Kahika Reserve, which is between Castleford street and Titirangi road. This project brings awareness to kauri dieback in this reserve and others. Itseeked assistance from Pamela Gill of EcoMatters, Christine Rose, the kauri dieback co - ordinator for the Waitakere Ranges Local Board and artistic organiser Melissa Hastings. The artwork is a large sign which has beautiful illustrations of “what you will find in these wonderful urban wetlands” including the weta, kereru and ponga. The year 6 students designed and produced the artworks themselves, with help from their teacher Anja Hennig who encourages her students to care for the future of the reserve.

Music for a Cause
By Rose Ursem

Are you keen to hear some live music from a local band? Or perhaps want to help children struggling with special needs in your community? Coming up on Friday the 4th of November from 6-8pm is a fundraiser at Green Bay Primary School hall. The money raised goes towards supporting parents with special needs children so the children and parents can go on school camp, and any additional money raised will buy resources for the children. Entry is by donation, so come along in a week's time to hear some of our local emerging talent.

If you are organising an event or want to share any other information with your community please e-mail us and we will include it in next month's e-newsletter.
