KAYAC Pedestrian Mobility Plan
Here's a great opportunity to get involved in your city! The Kyle Area Youth Advisory Committee (KAYAC) will be holding a charrette — basically a Town Hall engagement meeting — to gather public input. Stop by and learn more, ask questions and get involved. This program will also include a community survey and public input in several phases. Any plans for pedestrian mobility will impact all residents and possibly how students get to school. Be part of the conversation! The meeting takes place beginning at 6:30 p.m. on November 10 at Kyle City Hall. Mark your calendars then attend. Check out KAYAC on their Facebook page and Like them!

Proposed Storm Drainage and
Flood Risk Mitigation Utility
Kyle City Council approved the 2016-2017 budget for the City of Kyle at its Sept. 6 meeting. Included in that budget is the potential revenue from a proposed Storm Drainage and Flood Risk Mitigation Utility. Kyle City Council approved the ordinance on first reading on Nov. 1, 2016. The full ordinance is posted on the city's website and was printed in the Hays Free Press (the city's newspaper of record). A public hearing will take place Nov. 15 during the Kyle City Council meeting. Visit www.kylestormwater.com to learn more.

Military Academy Nominations
deadline extended to Nov. 15, 2016

For our Kyle area students in the 35th Congressional District, Congressman Lloyd Doggett asked us to share this important message for students who want a Congressional nomination as they apply to a military academy:

Dear Kyle residents,
I share in the responsibility for ensuring that our military academies have the most highly qualified candidates from which to choose to meet the demands of the most powerful armed forces in the world. I will nominate candidates to compete for admission to the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Merchant Marines, and the U.S. Military Academy later this fall. With our deadline approaching, I seek your assistance in identifying any high school senior, who has demonstrated a concern for the affairs of our community and our Nation, has good leadership potential, and maintains a confident, positive outlook with a strong record in school. Please encourage such students to contact my office about an academy nomination. We have some able young leaders whom I would be pleased to recognize with the prestigious honor of a nomination to an academy. Potential applicants should call 512.916.5921 and speak with Lee Ann Calaway. The deadline for those submitting applications, and who reside within the 35th Congressional District, is November 15, 2016.

Sincerely,

Lloyd Doggett

Get Water Wise
& Sewer Savvy

Ever wondered how to stay up to date with the latest water conservation measures?  Or if a certain material is safe to dispose of in the sanitary sewer? As our city grows, residents need simple, concise answers to those sort of questions. That is the goal of Water Wise and Sewer Savvy, the city’s newest outreach education effort.
We want to help our citizens be informed and to make good decisions about how they participate in the use of our water resources and the needs of responsible sewer operations.
