2016 Stewardship Update: Chapter One
"Our common life in the church is enriched by the opportunity to learn and to take action in the world in a variety of ways."
We heard the first of three stories last Sunday from those in the Linden Hills family about how the church works in the world and has impacted their lives. Adam Belden and Will Hackerson talked about their experiences at the National Youth Event this past summer in Florida. For Adam, it was an opportunity to do things he had never done before, and he talked about hearing from a man who had been in solitary confinement for three years who described the abuses and injustice of the system. Will talked about a man who had invented a solution to the problem of debris in the ocean killing marine life. The speaker’s message: Identify problems in your area and come up with solutions; don’t wait for others to act.
Our common life in the church is enriched by the opportunity to learn and to take action in the world in a variety of ways. We’ll hear in coming weeks from others with other stories to tell, as we all begin to consider our pledges of financial support for the upcoming church year.
