Have you heard the news about the new Samish Island caretakers

Once again Samish Island has been blessed in finding caretakers.  The Samish Island Campground Board is happy to announce that John and Sandy Vanderwalker will assume the role starting in November.  John will be serving in the Camp Manager position. Sandy will be seeking employment in the area.  John comes with a wealth of management experience.  He and Sandy ran a successful bee keeping business.  John served 17 years in various positions in the Community of Christ including Mission Center President, Mission Support Leader and board member at 5 different Community of Christ campgrounds including Samish Island.  John understands the operational budget process for camps and has experience with small business budgets. John and Sandy both share the Samish values around environmental stewardship and sustainability. Significantly, he has a long list of handyman skills.  They look forward to a welcoming ministry of “hospitality” and being active in the Samish congregation and community.  The Samish Island Campground Board extends expressions of gratitude for the service of Don, Sydney and Chloe Brady and sends a warm Samish welcome to John and Sandy as they join Pam Bauer to make the caretaker team!

From CofChrist.org

Thank you for the outpouring of generosity for Hurricane Matthew disaster relief. As of Tuesday, 18 October, over $21,750 USD has been donated by members in Canada, the British Isles, and USA.

Apostle Arthur Smith reports that local leaders in Haiti allocated the initial $10,000 to help 100 families. Each family will receive $100 in emergency funds for medicine, water, food, and clothing. The church will continue to identify families who need aid, many of whom live in more remote areas that remain difficult to access. Continue to pray for recovery in Haiti and support ongoing relief by donating through e-Tithing in the USA (select Disaster Relief) or online at www.CofChrist.org/give

Update: Worldwide Mission Tithes

Through September, we are right at our goal. After a really strong start to the year, we have been slightly below our monthly goal for the past three months.

Heading into the final months of the year, reaching our tithing targets for October, November, and December becomes essential if we want to sustain current ministries.
