President ‘s  Message:

Dear Team Green-Kenya

As we celebrate the Day of the Girl Child, It is important to keep in mind that no society can  reach its full potential without the inclusion of women in all areas of community development. We need to treat each other based on what they can do and not on their gender and how trations dictates.

I can truthfully confirm that at Green-kenya we have been able to give adolescent girls and opportunity to air out their voices by creating a safe space where Girls can meet and discuss their issues without the fear of being judged or mistreat because of their views, given them an opprtunity to participate in Sports like their male counterparts through our female empowerment program called Wasichana Juu (Girl Up)

There is still more to be done as an Organization and as a community, let us join our efforts together and question harmful, degrading  practices that is directed towards the Girl Child and women in general all over the World.

Sharpening our Skills For the betterment of
    Our Community.

As we move a notch higher with our life changing Program, we also need to keep ourselves updated with current information as far as Sports for social impact is concerned as a team.
This is the reason why we organized in-house refresher training to have the basics on our finger tips and understand the dynamics of  social issues in our community and most effective ways to to address them. The refresher training came in handy for Grace Anyango,  the coach of Green-Eaglets, our Girls soccer team and Kevin Alando who is now incharge of monitoring and evaluation of our programs. The training will also help us to speak with one voice as we question harmful and retrogressive beliefs and culture in the community.

Cementing our project on the Global Giving Website

We are requesting for your support to help us cement our life changing Community Impact Program on the Global Giving website by helping us reach our target of 5000 dollars from 40 unique donors, we have already raised USD 1275, we are short of USD3750 to reach the target.

Because of that,Community Impact Program will is not be available via GlobalGiving search or browser. It is only available via a direct link at https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/community-impact-program/ We would like to apologize to our supporters who have tried to search or browse for community Impact Program without success. This should not be a challenging moment for you.

Pollination Project seed Grant Making Meeting

Green-Kenya was among the Grassroot organizations that took part in the Pollination Project Seed grant making meeting at Go-Down art Center in Nairobi. The Pollination Project seeks to unleash goodness and expand compassion all over the world. Pollination Project  make daily seed grants to inspiring social change-makers who are committed to a world that works for all.

Through a global network of grantees and community partners, Pollination Project team identify extraordinary grassroots leaders and organizations who would not likely qualify for funding from other foundations or institutions. Once they have the backing of The Pollination Project, grantees often leverage their grant into more funding, building their team, media attention and more.

Green-Kenya is among potential grantees that have sent their proposal to Pollination and we hope to secure the grant and take our program deeper in to the community and schools in Shauri Moyo, Bahati, majengo and Mukuru Slums.Pollination daily grant making began on January 1, 2013 and since then, they have funded a different project every single day. As Green-Kenya,We believe that our impact will allow us to secure up to $5000 as one of the grassroot Organization that have demonstrated impact and success in the community.

Thank you Mike Arrum Project (MAP)

We would to thank Mike Arrum Project  (MAP) for donation uniform to Jovial farrel educational centre boys team who participated in the last kick and Conserve with different colored  t shirts, but that did not stop them from taking part in the tournament.
The uniform were presented by our President, David Mulo who is in the photo. “I believe that this kits will boost the confident, self esteem and passion of these boys to give their best, not only during Kick and Conserve but in other Sport related activities in the future”.

Sports for Social Impact Discussion

Our team had an opportunity to meet with Mr. Tony Reilly, the country Director of British Council and discussed about what Green-Kenya does and how the organization incorporates Sports and Social impact in the community.
The meeting was held at British Council Office in Nairobi, One of the reason for setting up the meeting was to network and become familiar what Green-Kenya and British Council Kenya is engaged in through the power of Sport and in what area can partnership opportunities be created in order to reach the vulnerable in the community.
Networking is key in mitigating the social issue that we are facing in the community because it helps like-minded Organizations and community at large to speak a common language.
