I started weight lifting in my early 20’s while working at Mawson Health & Fitness shortly after its opening. I was instantly hooked on how it made me feel. Instead of sitting at home wishing I was not so lazy, I was proud of myself for getting off the couch and pushing hard in the gym.

At that time, I was also battling addiction. Not only with alcohol but also with hard drugs. As time went on, this caused a great deal of weight loss and severe depression which in turn created some significant self esteem issues. I knew I was capable of so much more but couldn’t get past the demons. Shortly before meeting my partner Jordan I made the choice to overcome my issues and start building a new me, from the inside out. As this took shape, so did an amazing life path. I got married in 2005, built & opened The Ivy in 2006 and adopted our first son in 2010. Our second son was adopted in 2014.

I watched my first SABBA show in 2011 and left TCU Place so pumped I hardly slept that night. Almost instantly I knew I wanted to be up there on that stage next year! I was introduced to Vince Wawryk & Chris Pylypchuk through my friend the late Steve Burns. Weighing in at 140 pounds I was in awe of Chris & Vince and their strong physiques, which assured me I was with true pro’s. With Chris as my coach, I started eating & lifting heavy for almost a year and didn’t stop! I competed in lightweight bodybuilding in the Spring of 2012 at 151 lbs and finished 6th in a class of 11. The next year I tried the new (at the time) Men’s Physique Class and came in 5th out 14 with a few extra pounds of muscle at 156. That October I hit the IDFA Stage and took 1st in bodybuilding at 159.

The last 3 years have been a balance of family time, business time (we opened another restaurant in late 2014), as well as an amazing move out to Vancouver for a year! Upon arriving back home in SK this past May I knew it was time to work hard toward the Fall Show. Vince agreed to get me ready for this one and once again I couldn’t be any happier with the results! Team Wawryk and SABBA have created several of the most unimaginable dreams come true! I have also been very fortunate to take part in the past few SABBA shows as a judge and look forward to continuing on in this amazing sport on as many levels as I can be involved in!

I can’t Thank my family and friends enough for being the biggest support system anyone could dream of! It makes it that much easier to keep living and loving this lifestyle.
