Stuy in Action

Nov 1, 2016: Stuyvesant Penguins, Stuyvesant's Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team competing at home in the PSAL Semifinals against Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, and Townsend Harris. Stuy Penguins won!

If you have a special photo of an activity that you think might be of interest to eNews, please send it to: contact@stuy-pa.org along with details of the event/people in it, and who took the photo. No promises about inclusion in the publication, but we would like to showcase some of our student community in action.

Help - Where to Find It
Do you have a worry? Too much Social Media and not enough sleep? Time management issues? Daily issues that relate to Stuy students are not unique. Now that the first report card of the year is in, if there are any problems, it is a good time to address them. Here are some suggestions for parents who need help moving forward.

Other parents: Yes, there are other parents just like you who have been through this situation or are going through it. Parent meet-ups are one way to share the tips and tricks that can get you and your student over hurdles. You  can meet parents via the PA General Meetings, which have refreshments beforehand. Or if you reach out to the PA, we can put you in touch with like-minded people. Between us, we have a lot of experience. The PA Facebook page is also a way to connect.

Parent Teacher Coordinator: Issues relating to teachers and communication with the school, can be discussed with Dina Ingram our experienced PTC.

Counselor advice: Our Guidance Department offers expert individual help to students and parents. Here is a directory of Stuyvesant School Counselors with contact details.

Academic Tutoring: AIS and ARISTA exist to help students with their study problems.

The Writing Center: The Writing Center in the school library is an invaluable resource for students who can use writing assistance for any subject. Seniors can also get help with college essays. It is open from 4th through 8th periods with extended hours to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

eschooldata.com - Here you can check grades and attendance.

School Testing Calendar - If you need to know when exams are coming up, check this calendar.

The Rules and Codes of School Life - Here you will find information on: Code of Conduct, Cell Phone Policy, Dress Code, Elevator Use, Extracurricular Activities, Hall Use, Locker Use, Going out of school at lunch period, Attendance/Cutting Policy, Advanced Placement Policy, Homework Policy, Homework Methods/Study Skills, Problem Resolution, and Test Day Guidelines.

Our students and school need and depend on your financial support. So much of what makes Stuyvesant special - extracurricular activities, academic enrichment, extended library hours, the Writing Center, translation resources, tutoring services, and so on - are very difficult to fund without your help. Your support makes these vital “extras” possible. Donate online by clicking the link above. Your child will ultimately be the beneficiary of whatever you can give.
