DR. PITTENDRIGH RECEIVES THE OSMUN AWARD


This past month, SAWBO team member, and co-Director, Dr. Barry Pittendrigh received the John V. Osmun Alumni Professional Achievement Award in Entomology from Purdue University, in part, for his work with SAWBO. The rest of the SAWBO team would like to congratulate Barry for this award.

ANIMATIONS IN OUR VIDEO LIBRARY


We have over 500 different animations in our Video Library, with over 50 different topics, in more than 100 languages variants. Here are two animations that we would like everyone to share this month:

Cholera in Creole from Haiti

CHOLERA IN CREOLE ACCENT FROM HAITI


Cholera is an intenstinal infection. Haiti is in the middle of a Cholera outbreak due to Hurricane Matthew. This animation shows how to prevent cholera using simple techniques.

Cholera in French from Haiti

CHOLERA IN FRENCH ACCENT FROM HAITI


Transmission of cholera primarily occurs by consumption of contaminated food or drinking water. This is very common after natural disasters such as a hurricane or earthquake.

SHARING KNOWLEDGE USING THE SAWBO DEPLOYER APP


This animation will show how the SAWBO Deployer app can travel with our collaborators to help spread knowledge to many people and communities across the globe.

LUNG CANCER SCREENING AND PREVENTION


In collaboration with University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), we are creating a lung cancer animation that talks about screening and prevention techniques.

HIP DYSPLASIA


Hip dysplasia is a problem from birth where the hip joint has not formed properly. Over time, children born with a dislocated hip will have a limp. If diagnosed early, this condition is very easily treated.
