Robot Garden President Jim Berry led a very popular ‘blinky pumpkin’ workshop at the Bankhead Theater for the Livermore Downtown’s Kidz Town Halloween Hay Day. Hundreds of children and adults dressed up in costume and enjoyed giveaways, rides and a great day out in central Livermore on Saturday Oct 29.
The Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center (LVPAC) hosted activities in front of the Bankhead Theater which was where some Robot Garden people could be found on helping install LED eyes on mini pumpkins that were being carved and decorated by very enthusiastic children. For more great photos of the event, see the LVPAC Facebook Page.
Over all 100 pumpkins were prepared which meant it was all hands in action earlier in the week preparing the kits. Even simple electronics becomes daunting when you’re hand wiring 100 units! Fortunately, there were many willing volunteers during the week, especially workers at The Switch who don’t normally get to join in the weekend hacker activities at Robot Garden.
The Switch is the City of Livermore’s co-work and entrepreneurial center at 2324 Second St, with many growing startups, building both hardware and software. Robot Garden, the TriValley’s maker space is also located at The Switch but usually only operates during the ‘off peak’ evenings and weekends.
Next events at Robot Garden are:
