From the Executive Director

Thank You for Reading Our Newsletter!

Such a warm autumn in Santa Fe this year. Though I'd like to see more rain, I'm grateful that the warmer weather has meant we've not had to run the clinic's boiler much this past month to keep warm. It's a big help with the utility bills. And, no complaints enjoying the beautiful fall colors and the New Mexico landscape.

Don't let this unseasonably warm weather make you forget your flu shot. The clinic has flu shots available for infants through adults. Please make an appointment by calling 983-8561 or emailing and get your flu shot.

We had a wonderful retreat on October 11 with staff, Board members and volunteers led by Marty Helldorfer at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Conference Center. It was very rewarding to have our VTCC family together. I am energized by the knowledge, ideas and direction that it has given us to serve the most underserved and uninsured families and individuals in Santa Fe most of whom reside in the Airport Road and Agua Fria Village areas.

Becky Herrera, our outreach coordinator, has been busy "spreading the word" about VTCC's free services to the underserved and needy in compliance with the Con Alma Healthcare Foundation grant. She has met with agencies and schools in the San Miguel, Rio Aribba, and northern Santa Fe Counties. Becky has also met with many social service agencies in Santa Fe as well as the school nurses with the Santa Fe Public Schools. Great job, Becky! We value your enthusiasm and efforts in reaching those who we can serve.

I want to welcome Marjorie Ann Wood, our new dental hygienist! Mardi received her dental hygienist degree from the Rangely Campus of Colorado Northwestern CommunityCollege and has lived in Northern New Mexico since 1977. I am proud to be leading and working with such a wonderful staff.

We're hard at work on the Holiday Fundraiser and I hope that you will be joining us that evening. Fundraising is a significant part of the clinic's budget. Net profits from the Holiday Fundraiser alone account for around 10% of the total budget. I know I'm "preaching to the choir" because you faithful readers are already our supporters, but remember we can serve more of the those in need when you are generous!

Warmly,
Michele
