Hackster joined Avnet! |
In the past 3 years, we’ve grown in term of reputation, team (now 9 full-timers and a couple of amazing part-timers), and partnerships. We've also grown our user base and the number of projects on our site, thanks to your incredible events!
Doing all the big things we dream, however, is very expensive; we’re developing a marketplace, documentation platform, localization support, private labels, and service automation—and of course growing Hackster Live.
Avnet is a strong company that we trust and respect, they have a deep business relationship with literally all our partners and they believe in our mission. In fact, Avnet is committed to keeping us brand-independent, and they’re providing us with new hiring resources, funds to build our future, and access to field engineers, and electronics. With Avnet, Hackster will be much stronger, more global and a lot bigger company - we’re planning to grow the user base nearly 5x in the next 3 years. This means a better community for you, a stable company to partner with, and a team at Hackster that is being properly compensated and motivated to deliver results. Avnet is hiring the entire Hackster team, and we’re committing to stay on board for years. We are all seriously excited!
We haven't announced this to our larger community yet because we wanted you to know first. Have questions about how this will affect Hackster Live and your meetup? Feel free to ask in #amb_chat

Shipment |
November's hardware kit will be sent in 4 separate shipments:
1. The Arduino101, shipped by Arduino
2. The motor chassis, shipped by Sparkfun
3. The motor driver and header pins, shipped by Adafruit
4. Batteries and other accessories from Intel
Here are the items that you will be shipped: |
Motor Chassis from Sparkfun
There wasn't enough inventory of a single type of motor chassis, so we are shipping 3 different types. They are all essentially the same and distribution will be random.
These shield stacking headers are being shipped with your adafruit stepper motor kit. Some soldering is required. |
Arduino 101
You have probably already received this.
Adafruit Stepper Motor Servo Kit
This incredible kit is being shipped from Adafruit.
Additionally, Intel will be shipping batteries, wire, and barrel jacks. |

New Emburse rules
Zoran Roncevic is now the Emburse Tzar! He's the person to turn to with questions about emburse. He's made some new spending rules:
1. Upload a receipt for each transaction. IT MUST BE RECEIPT.
2. If you use PayPal you must upload a receipt, NOT PAYPAL confirmation for money transfer.
3. If you buy hardware, it must be for hackster live events, workshops, hackathons. All items should be visible on invoice/receipt - not just the total amount.
Don't follow the rules - lose your card.
