Flyer for December's Disability Connections

Your chance to influence local ambulance services
South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) will be holding its biannual Hampshire Patient Forum on Thursday 1 December from 2.30pm to 4pm at the Basingstoke Discovery Centre, Festival Place Shopping Centre Basingstoke RG21 7LS.

SCAS is committed to involving patients, local people and members in the services it provides. One way in which the Trust does this is via the Forum.

The Trust would like to encourage members of the public from a variety of backgrounds and ages to join the Forum so that it can be truly representative of local communities.

The forum will include a Q&A session with Keith Boyes, Head of Operations for North Hampshire and Jenny Nunn, Senior Patient Experience Officer.

Chloe Taylor-Jones, SCAS Education Manager (Older Adult, Frailty & Dementia) will be talking about Dementia in the ambulance service. Dementia affects over 800,000 people in the UK and it is estimated that by 2021, the number of people with dementia in the UK will have increased to around 1 million.

To book a place, please email Monica Moro at monica.moro@scas.nhs.uk or you can telephone her on 01869 365126.

We will present our award to the winner at next year's Basingstoke Roll on 1 July.

Please send your nominations to info@bddf.org.uk and include a brief description of why you think this person deserves to win, as well as your own contact details so we can get in touch with you for more information if necessary.
New signposting service for people with learning disabilities

They can help you with money matters, health, internet safety, employment, your community and benefits. The service is supported by Basingstoke Mencap, The Cafe Project and Basingstoke and Deane Council. It's available on the following dates at The Cafe Dome (Brighton Hill) between 2pm and 4pm.

Trustee recruitment event
Basingstoke and District Disability Forum has been run successfully for the last three years by a board of voluntary trustees, with the assistance of a part-time facilitator. As the charity has grown, so has our need for a larger team of trustees to support the multitude of projects, services and events we now offer.

We are holding the event below to offer you the chance to find out what we do and how you may be able to help. Hope to see you there!
