Thanksgiving food drive. Please drop off any last-minute items for the Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry by this Wednesday, November 16. They will be delivered on Thursday. A list of items is available online. Pastor Brad Carroll has also invited us to help serve at Good Shepherd's annual community Thanksgiving dinner this Saturday, November 19, 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Over 300 neighbors are served at the dinner each year. Good Shepherd is located at 2620 West Grauwyler Road in Irving, about a mile southeast of Irving Mall.
Advent Dinner and Variety Show. The Fellowship Committee is looking for volunteers to perform at the variety-show portion of the Advent Dinner on Sunday, December 4, at 5:00 p.m.. A signup sheet for performers and those attending the dinner (to get a head-count for food) is available at church.
Pie Fest Sunday. We will kick off the celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday with a day of pies this Sunday. Please bring your favorite pie to share with everyone—stay after worship for the fun and good eating!

Help AGLC look great! Following Pie Fest this Sunday all ages are invited to help rake the property and bag leaves (after we jump in them, of course!). Please bring a rake and gardening gloves. This won't take very long, and it will definitely be fun!
Sunday School teacher needed. We are seeking a team teacher for the PreK-2nd Grade Sunday School class to work with Erin Hurtado starting in January. As a team teacher, you would lead the students every other week (flexible scheduling to be arranged with Erin) from 9:15-10:15 a.m. using provided lesson plans and activities. It's a great chance to connect with our youngest children and help them grow in faith! For more information or questions, please contact Taylor.
Christmas Tree Lighting! Join Taylor for Southlake's annual Christmas tree lighting this Saturday, November 19, at 6:00 p.m. There are plenty of other events going on beforehand in the square, so feel free to check them out. Please let Taylor know if you're planning to attend so she knows who to look for and can coordinate a spot to meet before the tree lights up.
Playground equipment removal. There will be a workday this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. to remove some of our playground equipment in preparation for upcoming construction. Please come if you can help, bringing power tools, shovels and gloves.
Christmas poinsettias. You can buy a Christmas poinsettia to help decorate the chancel area this Advent/Christmas season. The cost is $8/plant—please pay by placing a check in the offering plate marked “Poinsettias.” Sign up this Sunday. You can dedicate your plant in honor or memory of a loved one.
Christmas worship assistants. There are sign up sheets at church for worship assistants at the Christmas Eve (5:00 and 7:00 p.m.) and Christmas Day (10:30 a.m.) services. Please sign up if you can assist.
Women's Christmas brunch. All ladies are invited to a Christmas brunch on Saturday, December 10, at 10:00 a.m. Please bring a dish to share. Secret Sisters will be revealed at the brunch with an opportunity to bless her with one final gift. You can sign up to participate as a Secret Sister in 2017, too. If you are not currently a Secret Sister, please bring a gift to exchange. We are also looking for volunteers to decorate and host tables. To sign up or for more information, please contact Lisa Derasaugh.
Church of the Damascus Road. We are collecting Christmas cards and money for socks for the Church of the Damascus Road prison ministry this month. Pastor Dan Lund provides cards to the men to send to their families—please place boxes of cards on the Outreach table. There is a jar on table, too, for money to buy socks to include in a Christmas bag for each prisoner.
Frontier Girls. April Humen and Briana Massey are teaming up to lead a troop of Frontier Girls. This is a group for girls of all ages to learn and develop leadership, teamwork, character, community service and other qualities. More information and a sign-up sheet to gauge interest can be found on the activities table in the sanctuary. For further questions please contact April or Briana.
Parties! Alissa and Dewey Peters will be hosting a Christmas party for the 20-30s young adults at their home on Sunday evening, December 11, from 5:30-8:30. Please bring a holiday treat to share—drinks and appetizers will be provided. Contact Alissa for directions. Kim Riley is hosting a Christmas ornament exchange for the ladies of the church at her home on Thursday, December 15. The festivities begin at 7:00 p.m.  Jane and Tony Seris are hosting a Christmas party for the adults of our congregation at their home on Saturday evening, December 17, 6:30-10:00. Please bring an appetizer or dessert and your preferred beverage—non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. There will be a gift exchange, too. Sign up at church beginning November 27.
