Trump’s Transition – An Inside Look

Now that the election is over, Trump’s focus is on implementing his transition planning and the first 100 days agenda. Flywheel is assisting with the Trump transition, and is monitoring progress. The transition team has been formalizing its planning for several months, and we will continue to bring you updates on a weekly basis.

As an outsider, Trump’s Cabinet will likely consist of many business leaders while balancing the expertise of perhaps former and current governors, who bring CEO-like management, budget and policy proficiency. As Trump’s senior campaign advisor, Chris Christie leads the transition team and will look to balance men and women for top posts, with great emphasis on recruiting women we expect. A lean organization, like his campaign team, the transition team has its work cut out for itself and will need to ramp up quickly.

Ron Nicol, former Navy Officer and BCG advisor, leads Trump’s policy teams. The Economic team is led by William Walton, who runs a private equity firm, and David Malpass, who was a chief economist at Bear Sterns.  National Security is led by former U.S. Rep Mike Rogers (R, MI). Defense is led by retired Army Lt. Gen. J. Keith Kellogg. Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell leads domestic issues.  Former Attorney General under Reagan, Ed Meese, and Kay Coles James, who served in both Bush administrations, lead management and budget.  Ado Machida, former domestic policy aide to Vice President Cheney, is managing executive action review, regulatory reform and immigration.  Immigration also included Senator Jeff Sessions.
