After a few months of silence and extensive travel in Asia, I'm publishing the newsletter again.
Our book (with CD) Not Your World Music: Noise In South East Asia is available in the following shops in Berlin (Germany) : Praxis (in Friedrichsain) and Staalplaat (in Neukölln) and in Hong Kong (ACO Book).
You still can order the book from us here but on our side, the companion CD is sold out ; if you absolutely want the CD as well, some of the artists included on the compilation could sell it to you, feel free to contact me if needed or you can also get the digital version on Bandcamp.
If you are in Hanoi, you can buy the CD's at Manzi or in Bangkok, you can get it via Moontone Records.
The book can also be read at C2O Library in Surabaya, Indonesia and by now, it also should be at Selasar Sunaryo Art Space in Bandung, also in Indonesia.

The WSK festival in Manila opens a world of possibilities for unpopular music, article by Alyana Cabral.

Music without Norms – Visiting Korhan Erel, interview by Julia Marx.
Musician and sound designer Korhan Erel loves the microcosm of sounds. As a free improvisation musician, he has always been interested in experimental music. “When a rhythm is set, I get lost,” he says. Even as a child, he refused piano lessons, preferring to eavesdrop on the sound of the toilet flushing in the bathroom. Later, his computer became his main instrument. As a member of the group Islak Köpek, he was a co-founder of the free improvisation scene in Turkey.

Interview with Cedrik Fermont – Not your world music: Noise in South East Asia, by Alessandro Violante.
Cedrik visited the countries belonging to ASEAN, an acronym meaning Association of Nations of South-East Asia, collaborating with several projects belonging to the areas of noise, experimental music and sound art (that in those countries are considered part of the same thing), documenting all the things he saw. The result of his experiences, also thanks to the fundamental help of the sociologist – label manager Dimitri della Faille, is a very interesting book covering a music panorama unknown to the Western countries until now, as we used to think that noise music was mainly a Western affair, with the exception of Japan (Japanoise).
