  THANKS AND GIVING!
Every year, we theme our November newsletter, “Thanks and Giving”. As we enter the holiday season, we are reminded of all that we are grateful for and all that we have. We are surrounded by phenomenal employees, clients and friends. We also realize that many people in our community, country and world are suffering during the holidays and throughout the year.

Stratosphere Quality is very committed to giving back to our communities where we serve, not just throughout the holiday season, but every day throughout the year. It is the giant blessings that we have that fuel the tremendous need for serving others to improve our world in which we live. During this holiday season, we want to thank you for being such a special part of our lives.

This year will be the 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, one of America’s favorite holiday events. Over 50 million people tune in annually to watch this live show in addition to the 3.5 million people who line up along its 2.65 mile-long parade route. Thursday you will see more than a dozen giant balloons, nearly 30 parade floats, 1,500 dancers, 12 marching bands – more than 8,000 participants in all.

Macy’s does everything that it can in advance to ensure that this holiday favorite goes off without a hitch. It is no small task to manage and run the parade. The team at Macy’s manages the logistics and operations of the parade including creating new floats, timing the parade, organizing the 4,000 volunteers, working with city officials, coordinating with the television crews and that is just the tip of the iceberg! In fact, planning for the parade starts 13 months in advance.

At Stratosphere Quality we know that exceptional planning and execution are the cornerstones to creating a quality product. This holiday season we would like to celebrate the unbelievable hard work that goes on behind the scenes of one of America’s favorite pastimes.

Below are some fun facts about the parade which highlight the many moving parts that make the parade possible.
  1. The night before the Parade, all the floats and balloons have to go through the Lincoln Tunnel so every float has to be designed to come apart, fold, and fit through a toll booth (12.5 feet tall by 8.5 feet wide).
  2. It takes six hours to assemble the 26 parade floats once they make their trip from New Jersey via the Lincoln Tunnel.
  3. Each balloon has a flight management team: one pilot, two co-pilots, one captain, two assistant captains, and a team that controls the vehicle the balloon is anchored to.
  4. Each balloon goes through engineering analysis to test how far it will sway off-path in different wind speeds at different heights.
  5. There are 40 tons of sandbags holding down the balloons, which take 90 minutes to inflate.
  6. It takes about a month to get all of the Parade costumes laundered, and another month to reassemble all the costumes into their packages.
  7. The first float will be towed back to New Jersey before the parade ends.

Stratosphere Quality believes that participating in community programs and charitable organizations is a key responsibility for any organization and that it’s important to give back to the community beyond the business itself.

Stratosphere Quality has been a corporate sponsor for Brooke's Place and JDRF over the past several years. Our company has participated in silent auctions, gala events, walks, fundraising efforts, etc. in support of these great organizations. Stratosphere Quality has made significant financial contributions as well as service hours. Along with these formal contributions, Stratosphere Quality hosts an annual food drive each holiday season with all donations going directly to a local Fishers food pantry. This year, we were also the main corporate sponsor of "Keep Fishers Beautiful," a community clean-up event put on by the Fishers Parks Department. We continue to support these programs and consider other opportunities to make an impact in our community.
