Llandudno, North Wales, 10 November 2016 - Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles are pleased to announce that the band have been awarded a grant from the Arts Council of Wales Horizons 2016 Launchpad fund towards recording new music due for release in 2017.
ABOUT LAUNCHPAD:
The Launchpad fund, created as part of the BBC Wales and Arts Council of Wales’ Horizons scheme to develop new contemporary music, received over 200 applications from across Wales, the highest number of applicants since its conception. A panel made up of 15 music industry experts were selected to help choose the most eligible applicants.

To kick off this year's Launchpad funding cycle, on 9th November, Billy Bibby and Matt Bassy of Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles were invited to BBC Radio Wales in Cardiff for a live radio interview with Eleri Siôn. During the interview, Billy explained the band's plans to release a double single in the coming year supported by additional touring, stating that the Launchpad opportunity is "a massive deal for us". The band's formation, songwriting process, and most recent single Are You Ready? were also topics of discussion.

Bibby adds, "Horizons Launchpad funding is important to us because we feel like there is a good support network out there for hardworking bands such as ourselves who are doing our best to put new music out regularly for a growing fan base at a more grass roots level. That will now hopefully flourish sooner with the help of this funding. A massive thanks to all involved. We'll do our best to create something timeless to enjoy for years to come!"
Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles' day in Cardiff ended with an evening celebration at the BBC Radio Wales Broadcasting House hosted by BBC Radio Wales Presenter and Launchpad Project Manager Bethan Elfyn. Bibby, along with Launchpad peers Hipicat, Bryony Sier, Cally Rhodes, and John Adams performed a few acoustic songs for a gathering of fellow Launchpad winners, BBC Radio Wales personnel, and media attendees.
