Hey y'all,

We're less than 24 hours away from surviving this election 🙌🙌🙌. Despite the precariousness of this political moment, I'm feeling centered. This sense of relative chill is due in large part to an incredible event I attended over the weekend. A diverse crew of folks gathered to discuss organizing an action-oriented grassroots coalition for black liberation. AND it was facilitated by my hustle homie over at Whole Soul Health! So dope to be in spaces where we're talking about liberation instead of the piecemeal "progressive" politics on offer from the neo-liberal left. (Y'all can keep your tacky pants suits and your lesser-evilism, I'm tryna get free.) It's also refreshing to be in a space where we can have conversations across difference without fear mongering, shaming, or moralizing. Peep the promo image and pic of the event below. I'm taking a facebook hiatus to avoid the non-stop stream of handwringing and sermonizing. You do what you need to do to protect your neck today, tomorrow, and for the foreseeable future. Light some sage. Call your mom. Do a ritual. Check in with your ancestors. Scroll down for a couple upcoming events and opportunities to be in community.

Peace,

S.

Boston Voters: Yes on 5!
The stakes are high for the referendums on the Massachusetts ballot. Boston voters have an extra ballot initiative that hasn't been getting a lot of airtime. (It doesn't help that the question is on the back of the last page of the ballot, smh.) Today Bostonians have the opportunity to vote for a referendum that will increase funds for affordable housing, historic preservation, and open spaces. This referendum could generate $20 million dollars for these issues through a small surcharge incurred by property owners (avg. $24/year) and matching funds from the state. All of the funds collected would be under *local control* (not through the BRA).  Projects would be determined by a newly convened CPA committee made up of community stakeholders. Click here for some links with more info and share this with any of the Boston* voters in your life.

*Including: Allston, Brighton, Charlestown, Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, Roslindale, Roxbury, West Roxbury
