STOLEN

Following funding from The Arts Councils of Wales and England, The Devil's Violin are pleased to announce they will be touring a new performance in the Autumn of 2017!

STOLEN will preview at the Storytelling and Health Conference in Swansea in June. The show will premiere on October 5th, playing for 4 nights at London's Greenwich Theatre before touring the UK.

STOLEN

A young woman goes missing. The search for her uncovers secrets which threaten to destroy her family....The Devil's Violin return with an enchanting blend of words and music. Brimming with dreamlike images that will haunt you long after the performance ends, The Devil's Violin take you on an epic journey to the land of no return. 

Over the past ten years The Devil's Violin have built an international reputation for moving, passionate, accessible storytelling performances for adults. They have performed at The Barbican Centre, Hay Festival and SAGE as well as theatres, arts centres, festivals, churches, schools and village halls throughout England and Wales. International work has included performances in Sweden, Holland, Norway and Denmark.

Daniel says of STOLEN-  'I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with The Devil's Violin on another project. Every piece has built on the one before. After many years of collaboration with Oliver and Sarah, we are still finding new ways to tell a story together. I reckon STOLEN will be the best show yet!'

Arts Residency

Daniel and Oliver recently performed a residency at the Swansea branch of Maggies Centre. Maggie's Centres are drop-in centres for anyone affected by cancer. Daniel and Oliver performed stories and music to groups as well as individuals. On one occasion Daniel accompanied a Nordic Walking group through Singleton Park, telling appropriate tales along the way, whilst Oliver created an impromptu ceilidh! Some of the tales they performed will be the basis of The Devil's Violin's next piece, STOLEN. Their residency was funded by The Arts Council of Wales and ABMU Health Board. 

Daniel has been touring internationally. Recently he performed to an audience of four thousand people in the USA! 

 

"And the award goes to..."

Daniel has been nominated for the 2017 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for his work as an oral storyteller. The Award is given annually to an individual or organisation who has made an significant contribution to children's and young adult literature. The current recipient of the award is Meg Rosoff. 

Wish we were there?

Quite ofter audiences and followers will tell us they wished we would play at some of their favourite venues and festivals. We are are currently in the process of booking dates for STOLEN so if you have some ideas of where you would like to see us perform then now is the time to get in contact. Just reply to this email.
