Hundreds from medical, insurance, and public health industries gather to discuss current and future status of primary care

Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative hosts 10th anniversary celebration
and annual conference November 9-11
WASHINGTON, DC – Today the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC) kicked off its Annual Fall Conference at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC. The conference’s theme, “Primary Care: Our Primary Cause,” focuses on the critical role patient-centered primary care and the individuals and organizations that support it play in the greater move toward better overall health outcomes, lower health care costs, and support for healing relationships between clinicians and patients, families and caregivers.

“We are very proud to be able to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the PCPCC with this stellar lineup of speakers and participants,” said Marci Nielsen, President & CEO of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative. “Strong person-centered primary care is foundational to delivery system reform, but must be supported by payment reform to be sustainable. With the passage of the Medicare and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), there are important new opportunities to align delivery and payment to improve care for patients and families.”

Dozens of health care experts are slated to speak at the conference including keynotes from Suzanne Dentzer, President & CEO, Network for Excellence in Health Innovation; Christopher Koller, President, Millbank Memorial Fund; and Paul Grundy, Chief Medical Officer & Global Director of Healthcare Transformation, IBM. They will be offering insight into the future of primary care transformation in the context of the recent presidential election, how to measure and increase support for primary care spending, and a celebration of collaboration over the past 10 years.

The conference will also highlight a post-election analysis; sustainable payment for high-quality care, particularly in regards to the newly released MACRA final rule; best practices for scaling up primary care within and across communities; and a salute to five “primary care rock stars” of the past decade.

This year’s conference is preceded by an awards dinner honoring the accomplishments of three primary care champions, and ends with both a summit on the shared principles of primary care, and a patient and family partner training that highlights PCPCC’s Support and Alignment Network, part of the federal Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
