Make a joyful noise!!  What joy there is on the faces of residents when they hear the preschool children sing and then get to join in with the adults after!  There are many that know the hymns without even looking at the words and you can see that God has touched their hearts. Next hymn-along:  Thursday, November 17 – start @ 10 am. Crossings, 2300 Clemson Rd, Columbia, SC 29223 Ph:(803) 223-9560.  Meet at the church @ 9:30 if you would like to carpool.

Hannah House Food Ministry

Thursday, November 17

Who wants to say the blessing?  A little girl shouts “I will, I will” and proceeds to sing the blessing she was taught.  How rewarding it is to hear the innocent eagerness of a child thanking the Lord!  We serve a meal on the third Thursday (November 17 this month), leaving Living Springs at 5:15.  Laura & Mark make the entrée and we supply the side dishes, dessert and drinks.  There is a sign-up sheet in the admin building if you would like to donate an item or join us.  Contact Karen @ kbkranz@gmail.com for information.

Daily Advent E-Mail Devotions

Due November 20

This year, Pastor Eric and the Worship Team again invite you to contribute a daily devotion for our LS Advent E-mail Series.  A theme & Scripture passage will be assigned for each weekday during Advent.  Devotions should be approx. 300 words in length and submitted to Pastor Eric by Nov. 20.  A sign-up sheet is available in the narthex admin building. We were truly blessed by all of the submissions last Advent - this is a wonderful way to focus your heart on an Advent message of hope and joy to share with others!

Opportunity to Be a Worship Helper

Refresher Training Sessions 11/20 & 11/27

There will be refresher sessions on 11/20 & 11/27 for assisting ministers, lectors, ushers, communion assistants, greeters, crucifers, and torch bearers.  Did you wonder what is involved in serving in one or more of these responsibilities?  Expand your comfort zone – meet in the sanctuary at 9:30 am or contact Jim Zieche or Karen Kranz for information. One of the ways that Jesus showed us his love was by washing his disciples’ feet.  That was the job of a servant, but Jesus willingly took up that job. Show your love by being a worship assistant!

Backpacks

Its been a while since we have had to ask for anything, but that time is here! We are in need of milk and weenie beenies or individual peanut butter. Thank you.

Lessons for Sunday, November 13

First Reading: Malachi 4:1-2a

Malachi, whose name means “my messenger,” warns that the day of the Lord is coming. On that day, the evil will be destroyed like stubble in a fire, but the “sun of righteousness” will shine on those who fear God.

Psalm 98

In righteousness will the Lord judge the world. (Ps. 98:9)

Second Reading: 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13

Some members of the Thessalonian community, because of their belief in the nearness of Christ’s return, had ceased to work, living off the generosity of other members of the community. Paul warns them bluntly that if they want to eat, they need to work.

Gospel: Luke 21:5-19

As history moves toward God’s fulfillment there will be frightening signs and events. Before the end, believers will draw strength from their relationship to God and shall be given the words they need to testify and to endure without fear.

Church Humor...

The Sunday School Teacher asked,
"Now, Johnny, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating?"

"No sir," little Johnny replies, "I don't have to - my Mom is a good cook!"
Do you have some church humor you'd like to share? We would love to share it too! Send your humor to Lisa in the office.
