Film Festival goes viral

We so much enjoyed our film festival in September that we wanted to make sure that everyone who couldn’t come could experience it too. So it is now available online here. We have identified the award winners too. The film festival is a wonderful opportunity to see what many of the local organisations we fund do and the difference they make. And we are very pleased that we launched a new film of our own at it – the story of some of the residents of John Betts house.
We would welcome any further feedback – thanks very much to those of you who have already sent us comments.

Our gardens win more Awards!

We are proud to announce that the gardens at John Betts House and Sycamore House both won second prize in their respective categories in the Almshouse Association London Gardens competition. Eve Etienne won second prize in the competition for residents of almshouses. Congratulations all round!

Trustee Recruitment

Hammersmith United Charities is on the look for new trustees. This is an exciting time to join the charity as we approach our 400th anniversary. We have been looking at how we maintain the traditions of that heritage whilst remaining relevant in a world the original benefactors could never have imagined. For more information check out our Governance Trustee Information Pack.

Our Sheltered Housing welcomes enquiries!

Sycamore House and John Betts House offer quality sheltered housing in a safe and secure setting. Both houses are known for their beautiful, tranquil communal gardens and for the friendly community of residents who enjoy them.
Both houses have a communal lounge, laundry, internet access and a guest flat. Both are supported by full time scheme managers. Residents are welcome to take part in as much or as little of the regular social events programme as they choose; a regular newsletter keeps them informed of social opportunities in house and in the wid-er local community. Prospective residents should be:
  • Over 60
  • Have lived in the local area for at least five years or, if not currently resident in Hammersmith be able to show that they have lived in the area for 10 years or more over the course of their life
  • Be on a low income
For more information about our housing or to find out how to join the waiting list, please see our website www.hamunitedcharities.org.uk or call 02087414326

Fundraising Fair Live Streaming at Sycamore House

Every year, the Directory of Social Change runs a two day “funding fair” in London. This high profile event offers a wide range of masterclasses and workshops to help smaller charities play the fundraising game more successfully. The sessions are a great introduction to crucial topics – but ticket prices are quite high and of course it takes time to travel there and attend.

This year, we are giving local charities the opportunity to attend this event virtually. We shall be streaming several of the masterclasses and workshops here at Sycamore House. You are very welcome to attend – learn from the sessions and network with others from the local area and see our sheltered housing scheme and gardens.
