SPEAKER JESSE MILLER on SOCIAL MEDIA SAFETY

Jesse Miller is well sought after for his savvy understanding of digital citizenship for school students. Mr. Miller will be speaking to our Intermediate students on Tuesday, November 29th from 12:30 - 3 pm.

A valuable session for parents will be offered by Jesse at Citadel Middle School from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on November 29th. This is very valuable for all parents who have children or children's friends that own and use technology (smart phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) We have been asked by Citadel Middle School to provide them with the number of our OLA parents that will be attending. Please send your RSVP to Mrs. Kazun at info@assumptionschool.com by Friday, November 25th (include the number attending).

BASKETBALL TEAMS PRACTICE SCHEDULES

Last Thursday Mrs. Hughes sent home a letter and practice schedule regarding 2016-17 basketball season for all interested students. As stated in the letter the schedule of games will be forwarded as soon as the times are finalized.

MUSIC NOTES

Recorders

As part of the Music curriculum, students in Grades 4 through 6 will be learning to play the recorder. If you do not have a recorder or have lost your recorder, you may purchase one through the school by filling out the form attached to this newsletter item and returning it with correct payment to your child’s teacher by Friday, November 25th. If you choose to purchase your recorder on your own, be sure to purchase a soprano recorder with German fingering and please be aware that while there may be some less expensive recorders available, there can be a noticeable and negative difference in sound quality and ease of playing in the cheaper models. COLD WEATHER:

As the weather is getting colder, a reminder that girls are able to wear pants to and from school (and at lunch recess).

REMEMBER: Dare to Share Food Drive is Coming - November 21 to 25th!

The Kindergarten and Grade Seven classes will be sponsoring a school wide “DARE TO SHARE” food bank collection the week of November 21st to November 25th. Please bring non-perishable food items to your classroom – as much as you can and for as many days as you can! Please do your best to ensure that the food you donate has not expired. The Kindergarten classes with their Grade Seven buddies will count the number of food items brought by each class every day and the total number will be recorded on a chart on our service bulletin board outside the staffroom. At the end of the week, the class who has brought in the most food items will be treated to a non-uniform day to celebrate their efforts. Thank you for your support – Assumption families always dare to make a difference.

Hour of Code

This international week of Coding celebrates learning computer science and computational thinking. We are one of thousands of schools worldwide who will spend an hour learning how to code on and off computers.

Your family ipad is a revolutionary learning device, come learn as a family how to maximize the learning fun.
