HealthPathways Melbourne features at 2016 Conference in Christchurch
The annual HealthPathways Conference features the best work being done internationally to improve clinical pathways for GPs and other clinicians. This year’s conference theme was embedding pathways to improve care and increase transparency.
Richard Penberthy from Eastern Melbourne PHN represented HealthPathways Melbourne at the conference to present the poster below. The poster won the judges’ prize at the conference.
It highlights the range of ways we are working to make this clinical tool more useful and relevant to our local health providers. It also looks at collaboration and the benefits of expanding coverage and providing more clinicians with locally relevant pathways.
An important consultation process is currently being undertaken by the Australian Government Department of Health – Redesigning the Practice Incentives Program.
The Practice Incentives Program (PIP) is a key driver of quality care in the general practice sector. The redesign of the PIP is an Australian Government initiative to simplify the current PIP and to introduce a new Quality Improvement Incentive. This will give general practices increased flexibility to improve their detection and management of a range of chronic conditions, and to focus on issues specific to their practice population.
The Department of Health is now seeking stakeholder views on how the PIP might foster quality improvement and innovation and offers a number of ways that stakeholders can participate in the consultation.
Opportunities include:
Indicating your interest in participation through a forum or webcast at the Department of Health on-line consultation hub at consultations.health.gov.au
The Victorian Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS) has published a Consultation Draft of the Alcohol and Other Drug Program Guidelines as part of the response to the independent review of the recommissioning of adult community based alcohol and other drug services.
In the first instance this document will consolidate existing advice from the Department and describe the purpose, target group and key service requirements of funded services. These guidelines will be subject to ongoing review and consultation processes.
The consultation draft is now available for review and feedback is sought from the alcohol and other drug sector.
