<<First Name>> Do you know about Chest Physiotherapy for Babies?

Winter is knocking at the door, and many babies start to have colds and bronchiolitis. It can be very distressing for parents to see their loved one with breathing difficulties. They stop eating normally, they don't sleep well and medicine is not efficient as it is a virus.

So what can you do?
The  safest, most natural and efficient treatment to clear mucus from the lungs or from the upper airways of a baby is Chest Physiotherapy.
Thanks to this gentle technique, your baby will be able to breathe in no time, and will recover much faster from bronchiolitis. With clear lungs and nose, he will then be able to eat and sleep better.

" Fact:  The average illness time for a baby with cold or bronchiolitis is 15 days, The average illness time for a baby with cold or bronchiolitis treated with chest physiotherapy is 6 days "

At Baby Physio, all our paediatric physiotherapists are highly trained in France and use chest physiotherapy to treat babies.

Avoiding your baby getting a cold
  • Wash your hands as well as the siblings’ hands before handling the baby.
  • Do not kiss the baby’s face; however, you can still kiss belly and feet.
  • Do not take the baby into overly crowded and enclosed places, avoid public places like shopping centres or public transport.
  • Avoid taking your baby to nursery
  • If your baby starts to have runny nose, start cleaning the nose with physiological serum regularly before sleeping: THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT to avoid mucus running down the lungs during night time

Tips if your baby has a cold

  • Wash your hands with water and soap, for at least 30 seconds before handling the baby.
  • Elevate the head when in bed approximately 30° with the help of a cushion or a similar item.
  • Regularly clean the nose of the baby: most importantly before meals and bedtimes.
  • Divide feeding bottles into smaller portions instead of giving it all at once.
  • Humidify the room often with the help of a room humidifier, especially during the first phase of the disease.
  • Avoid taking the baby back to the nursery or to the kindergarten for as long as possible during the time of the illness.
