Musings on Snow
When I started to prepare this newsletter the first snow of the season had fallen only a couple of days before.
Although this was relatively early in the year everything was suddenly covered with a white blanket of about 6cm and the world became still. During the following two days it stayed cold, yet dry, and a part of the snow evaporated. During the night of the second day it began to melt and on the third day when nearly everything had melted away the sleet which meanwhile started to come down slowly turned into snow, again.
This is a relatively typical picture for the early Winter, yet it brought something to my awareness:
Snow only falls within a temperature range between +4°C und -4°C. This is a relatively small range given that, for example, in North Germany temperatures of about -10°C to +30°C occur throughout the year.
In the beginning snow is falling, then it is too cold to snow further, then it is becoming warmer and the snow is melting while new snow is falling from the skies. Unless it becomes only one degree Celsius too warm in which case it rains. The snow crystals are so tiny and fine and beautiful – and fragile.
And yet, the snow manages to build a thick white snow blanket throughout the Winter.
During my childhood this was still a much more common case, however, for a few years I am noticing that it slowly becomes like that, again.
Why, it is astounding that something so fine, seemingly fragile like snow can leave such a strong impression and unfold so much power.
Not only do many people hope for white Christmas, each year…
I remember a
story from the late 1970‘s. Pictures are found, >>
here <<. I was only three years old at the time and it was reported to me, later, there was so much snow in Hamburg that it piled up like a wall next to the streets. In some areas this may be normal, but here, in North Germany, this was a rather unusual amount which finally led to a catastrophe.
Astounding that something so fine which can emerge only within a temperature range of altogether 8°C had such an impact.
Now, nobody tell me that something or somebody is too small or too fragile to move something. One snowflake on its own perhaps would not have managed this, but many snowflakes together could.
Just think about what many voices can move together…
According to reports they had just as much snow in Denmark, that year, without a catastrophe.
This is showing us something else; to wit it always is a question of perspective and of how a situation is dealt with. This decides if we experience something as a catastrophe or a miracle.

Christmas Break:
From Dezember 21st 2016 until inclusively January 8th 2017 I will be on Christmas break. The time of Twelfth Night from December 24th to January 6th is always a special one during which I like to allow myself a lot of space and calm.
During this time I will pull back from social networks, as well, and I will not answer comments, e-mails or requests sent via the contact form on this blog. Beginning with January 9th 2017 I will be available, again.
What helps you to achieve and maintain inner peace ?
Are you ready to shine a bright light of awareness on the path of beingness, today?
With this in mind: A Happy Yule!
Much love,
Steffi
