Hari Om!
Welcome to December.
Namaste everyone...and wishing you all a wonderfully festive season when it arrives...hope we keep having this lovely frosty weather.  Stay warm though!

So much is going on at the moment that I am struggling to keep up!!  I promised to include an relaxation practice that we did a few weeks ago - nut it will be in the next one!  Sorry!

Another family in Nepal will be staying warm...eventually, when the house is built!  I just want to say what a fantastic day the Craft Fayre on 26th November was.  You raised £1953 which was just amazing.  A massive thank you to Sally for helping me organise; Cherry for cooking with me; Carole, Pat, Phillipa and Joan for managing the kitchen and serving everyone...that team really are the veggie gravy to hold us all together; Joan and Wendy for manning the Derbyshire Unites for Nepal stall; Jo and Anne for meeting and greeting everyone and relieving them of their £5 entrance fee; and Nicola and Ann for stepping in last minute to sell tickets for the Guess the Weight of the Nepal Cake.  A special thank you to Jenni and Barry Pizer for sharing their knowledge about the village we are helping and giving us a clear insight to what being a menstrating woman means in Nepal.  Without all the wonderful stall holders and all the people who donated raffle prizes and made cakes for us it just wouldn't have been possible.  So a HUGE heartfelt thank you to everyone involved.  And, finally a massive thank you to everyone who came and supported the fund and bought from the wonderful the stall holders...some said they had their best day ever!!

The next Craft Fayre for Nepal will be 26th November 2017.  Put in your diary and if you want a table do let me know!

Yoga Day Reminders:

Yoga and Ayurveda holiday to Kerala, India April 2017,  read more>>
I have two spaces on both weeks if you are interested in coming.  A great opportunity to practice gentle restorative yoga and receive a daily massage.  Lie by the pool or walk on the beach in your free time.  A wonderful time to restore and feed the soul.

30th December 2016 - Yoga in Nature - Let me know if you are coming to this.  Phillipa Bray and I have worked on the plan together...lots of lovely things planned.  It will be based in Little Eaton and run 10am to 2pm.  It is donation based...see below.

7th January 2017 - Setting Your Intention - a morning of yoga, pranayama and meditaiton to help set your intentions for the year.  Spaces are running out so do let me know if you are coming...payment secures.  In the afternoon Claire Stone will be sharing EMMETT Technique with us if you would like to stay for that.

18th February 2017 - From the Heart - working with the heart chakra, Anahata.  Not just physically but also exploring how this chakra helps us and what we can do to keep it healthy.

19th February 2017 - Empowering Yourself - this is a half day I am doing for BWY Derbyshire.  You can find more details and book by following this link.  I really hope you can join me on this day, as the BWY volunteers do so much for their regions and I am very honoured to be asked to teach for them.

28th - 30th July 2017 - Wortley Hall Retreat - the Spring retreat has been so popular that I have booked to run a Summer one too.  If you are interested in joining me please let me know as room availability is more limited than in the Spring as it is a busy time of year for them.

Glamping in Wales - if you fancy some time away on your own, please consider my dads Shepherds Hut.  He is taking bookings now.  I realise winter may not be everyones idea of a holiday but it is SO very cosy in the hut with the wood burner on.  And its peaceful. Full details here.

Thank you so much for supporting all that I am sharing with you.  It never ceases to amaze me how generous everyone is.  I love life!

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a healthy and happy 2017.

Sending you love, joy and peace.

Namaste
Phillipa  xx

Join our Facebook page for regular updates.   Derbyshire Unites for Nepal.
After the success of the Craft Fayre last month we will continue to raise funds for Nepal.
For December our emphasis is on raising money for the Tara Project.  So every penny for the silver tin in class, will go to the Tara Project.  Every £5 buys a reuseable sanitary towel pack...which will last them around 3 years.

Last class of 2016 at Eventide Hall, Stanley Common on 14th December.

All other classes as normal until 22nd December.
We will have two weeks off over Christmas...but there is a special class on 30th December and 7th Jan.
Back to normal 9th Jan.

Hot off the press!
The Spring retreat is always a real joy to run and when I couldn't find a European venue to fit in with my plans for 2017, I decided to return to Wortley.  It will be wonderful to see the difference from early Spring to mid summer.  I have a limited number of rooms booked so if you are interested please do contact me for details or complete this form.

Fancy a break in beautiful Wales - off grid?

My dad has recently completed making an authentic shepherds hut...just like the one he had as a young man...a long time ago!  It has a single bed (very comfy as I ordered the mattress and bedding!), a log burner (very cosy when on), and is situated in a field close to the house for toilet and bath.  There is no mains electricity in the hut but you can charge things in the house or from a solar charger.

It is an ideal spot to meditate; practice yoga; be completely with nature; to write, paint, relax; go for walks.
There is more information here, or email me to book.

1st to 9th April 2017 and
8th to 16th April 2017

2 spaces available on both weeks.

This luxury retreat, to Northern Kerala, India, includes 7 days hermitage stay and is ideal for those that want to dip into the sea or infinity pool; to practice restorative yoga and meditation either in the Patanjali Hall or on the beach; to experience 5 ayurveda treatments; be surrounded by unspoilt nature.
To discuss or book your place please contact me.  Full details on the whole trip can be found here.
And if you are wondering why I have chosen this venue, above all others, have a look at Slow Life.

This is a short day of being outside, blowing away the cobwebs, working with the gifts of nature as a group and individually.  It will all become clear on the day but we will work with permanence and impermanace and how we are all interconnected.
All you need for the day is a stick...or two actually.  You can bring your own that you have found on a walk or already have a feeling for...or I will provide you with hazel ones from my garden.
There will be a generous mix of yoga, meditation, ceremony and discussion.  And lots of fun and laughter!
If you want to join Phillipa and I (yes, the P Team!!!) do let me know so I can give you all the details.
No previous ourdoors yoga experience necessary...just a willingness to have fun and maybe learn a little more about yourself.

There is no payment for this day. We will be collecting for Street Safe Derby,  More information about them below.

Street Safe Derby
Our Yoga with Nature's Stick day is a chance to come along and enjoy being with Nature, but also to do a little for a local group.  Instead of asking for money we would like you to bring any of the following.  If you fancy making up a Christmas box beforehand and deliver to me in class before 16th December I will had it over to the group.
Those of you on facebook can find out more information about Street Safe...it is not a huge cash rich charity - they are a group of volunteers.

Here is a list of items to make up the Warmer Winter boxes. Any donation will be a great help.

Drawstring bag
Socks
Underwear male and female
Gloves
Emergency foil blankets or sleeping bag
Hand warmers
Tissues
Baby wipes
Biscuits
Chocolate bars
Tinned food (ring pull)
Thermal mug/ cup

They cannot give out razors or aerosols, or anything with alcohol in it.
If you would like to make a box up yourself add in a Christmas card as a little extra, this means so much to a lot of people that come to us.

Kapalabhati Pranayama

We have been working with Kapalabhati for the last couple of weeks and will continue to practice through December.  Here is a little more information about the practice for you.
Clementine Cake

I missed this cake at the Craft Fayre last month but so many of you asked for the recipe.  So thank you Bec Haynes for making it and sharing it.  Am going to give it a try.  Clementine, mincemeat and Almond cake Recipe.
