The Strata Schemes Development Act has been proclaimed with a start date of 30 November 2016


The Strata Schemes Development Act 2015 has now been proclaimed giving us the long awaited commencement date. The Act and its accompanying regulations will commence on 30 November 2016. The Act rolls freehold developments and leasehold developments into the one Act. The major change brought in by this Act is contained in part 10 which provides for a strata renewal process which has attracted a lot of attention from developers and would-be developers.

Property Law Review – Have Your Say On Body Corporate Issues

A review of Queensland’s property laws is being conducted by the Commercial and Property Law Research Centre of QUT for the Queensland Government. 
QUT has recommended that a new system for dividing costs in community titles schemes be adopted.
The Government would like to hear from the community and industry about whether they consider QUT’s recommendations to be a fair and practical.
