Human rights abuse: the secret ingredient in our cookies
The EC-wide SupplyChainge consortium have launched research that demonstrates the human rights abuses prevalent in Palm Oil cultivation. Palm Oil is a key ingredient in many supermarket products, including the humble cookie. In order to create more ethical products, we must hold business to account for abuses in supply chains.
Think Global Programme Manager, Hannah Brenton, explains: "As a key member of the SupplyChainge consortium, we will be launching our ‘cookie petition’ next month to advocate for more ethical processes to be upheld in the supply chains of supermarket products. We want to raise awareness about the ethics of supermarket supply chains and help the British public take more responsibility for ethical consumption."
