Hélio Oiticica: To Organize Delirium Oct 1, 2016–Jan 2, 2017
Heinz Galleries

The first comprehensive US retrospective of the influential Brazilian artist
Carnegie Museum of Art presents Hélio Oiticica: To Organize Delirium, the first comprehensive US retrospective of the influential Brazilian artist (1937–1980). Ranging from beautifully balanced geometric paintings to immersive, interactive environments, Oiticica’s work is visually arresting, wholly original, and seeks to build a participatory relationship with audiences. The exhibition is co-organized by CMOA, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
The first exhibition to explore in depth the artist’s New York years (1970–1978) and his return to Rio (1978–1980), Hélio Oiticica: To Organize Delirium invites a reconsideration of an internationally recognized, yet too-rarely encountered artist.

2017 Thinking Andean Studies: An Interdisciplinary Conference
University of Pennsylvania
February 10-11, 2017
Submission Deadline: November 20, 2016

The aim of the second edition of this gathering is to develop an interdisciplinary network of scholars working in the growing field of Andean Studies, as well as to help foster a mentoring relationship between established and emerging scholars. The event will provide a space for participants to share their research through paper presentations and roundtable discussions, showcasing the increasing number of scholars in the US conducting research in and about the Andes. Moreover, we hope to investigate whether it is possible to theorize a voice “from the Andes,” which might include rural and urban areas of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia, as well as certain areas of Argentina and Chile, and engage in a wide distribution of topics.
Papers from any theoretical perspective and examining any aspect of the Andes are welcome, including but not restricted to: cultural studies, cultural policy, literature, indigenous studies, language planning and policy, bilingual education, decolonization, colonial studies, anthropology, sociology, cultural heritage, political science, linguistics, media studies, critical race theory, ethnomusicology, and history. Ideally, papers will engage in some fashion with the question of whether Andean Studies could constitute a theoretical perspective beyond a focus on a given geographic region.
Please submit a paper title and 200-250 words abstract to Marlen Rosas at mrosas@sas.upenn.edu . Responses will be made available by December 11th to all who submitted.

"Colombias globales" - XX Congreso de la Asociación de Colombianistas
 3-5 de agosto de 2017
University of San Diego, San Diego, California, EE.UU.
