A Message from AFA Board Chair Liam Oddie:

It is with mixed emotions that I share with you that Jeffrey Anderson has decided to retire. On behalf of the AFA Board of Directors and Alberta’s arts community, I’d like to express heartfelt gratitude to Jeffrey Anderson for nearly 20 years of public service to Alberta artists and arts organizations.

Jeffrey has long been a pillar of the arts community, having spent his entire working life in the arts as an arts administrator, post-secondary educator and music performer. For the past 13 years, Jeffrey has supported the AFA as its Executive Director and led the Arts Branch as Executive Director, during which time leading-edge solutions for arts grants, art collections, film classification, arts research and communication were introduced. From 2008-10 he was seconded to establish the Premier's Council on Culture and begin implementation of The Spirit of Alberta, Alberta's cultural policy.

As a founding member of the Canadian Public Arts Funders network, serving on the CPAF steering committee for seven years including four years as chair, Jeffrey's leadership and support of the CPAF network has helped keep Alberta at the forefront of Canadian arts policy, funding and best practice.

Jeffrey’s presence will be missed, but the positive impact he has left on our community will endure for years to come. We wish him well in his retirement.
