FLOWER OF THE WEEK - KANGAROO PAW
Kangaroo Paw are an iconic Australian native, a bird-attracting plant, the tubular flowers are covered in dense hairs that form a claw-like structure.
When purchasing look for one flower per spray open and buds that are plump, not shrivelled.
To keep them lasting long, keep cool at all times and strip leaves from the lower half of each stem and wash the stem ends. Cut off any leaves with black marks (ink spot is common in paws). Recut at 2 cm off each stem with sharp scissors and place in water and keep away from sunlight and warm air as they will cause the flower to fade.
