The Essig Museum needs your help. Every year our collections grow through research and specimen donations. Hundreds of students, staff, and members of the local community visit our collections at events like Darwin Day, Homecoming, Cal Day, and class tours. Specimen loans are now complemented by data loans from our continuing effort to digitize our ~6 million specimens through our CalBug workflow. We continue to increase our online presence with identification resources, online databases of our holdings, and information about Entomology at UC Berkeley on the new and improved Essig website. All these activities cost time and money.
Please support these efforts by donating to the Essig Museum's Give to Cal webpage as part of this year's Big Give campaign. This year's theme, "The Butterfly Effect", is particularly appropriate for us - a small gesture on your part can have a large impact.
You can also help by sending us photographs and stories about your time at Cal. We are collecting photos of past staff and students, information about their research projects, and where they are now to showcase the historical significance and continuing importance of Entomology at UC Berkeley.
We also continue to accept specimen donations, particularly terrestrial arthropods from western North America and associated field notes.
