Rebecca G. Stephenson
Dr. Stephenson is a physical therapist and medical writer, currently Coordinator of Women’s Health Physical Therapy and Co Director of the Residency Program at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She is the immediate past President of the International Organization of Physical Therapists in Women’s Health, (IOPTWH) a sub-group of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT). She has additionally served on many national boards: for the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists and the Section on Women’s Health of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
Dr. Stephenson graduated from Boston University with a BS in physical therapy
Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health Physical Therapy from the American Physical Therapy Association.
Master’s and Doctorate from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions
Certified childbirth educator and certified lymphadema therapist.
Rebecca has received many awards- World Confederation for Physical Therapy for service in May 2015, Section on Women’s Health APTA, Lucy Blair from the APTA in June 2013, Barbara Adams Fellow in the IHP post-Professional Physical Therapy and the Elizabeth Nobel Award from the Section on Women’s Health.
Dr. Stephenson specializes in obstetrics pre and post partum, pelvic floor disorders and trauma, incontinence, lymphadema and orthopedic areas of practice. Her areas of research include high-risk pregnancy and treatment of the breast cancer patient. She is the primary author on Obstetrics and Gynecologic Care in Physical Therapy second edition and additionally has written many chapters, study modules and videos on issues related to women’s health and orthopedics. She is adjunct clinical assistant professor for the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions and lectures nationally and internationally.
