Taco Bell Construction Begins

FREE "SHOP LOCAL" MARKETING MATERIALS

The national association of independent businesses, Independent We Stand, has a large selection of "Shop Local" messages that are free and can be downloaded and printed or put on your Facebook page or website. Check them out at Independent We Stand.

HOLIDAY DECORATIONS HERE!

For the first time in decades, Takoma/Langley Crossroads Center has been decorated for the coming season with red velvet ribbons and clusters of shiny balls.  Thank you, JBGR, for bringing a little holiday spirit to the Takoma/Langley Crossroads! Let's hope you start a trend!

ALDI Expands

ALDI Food Market is expanding again at 7609 New Hampshire Ave. The brick front is being opened up and an interior wall on the north side is being pushed back to create more room. The manager said this store is the chain's BUSIEST in the U.S.. WOW. 

FroZenYo Closes

Last week the door was locked and freezer cases were lined against the window awaiting movers at FroZenYo, The frozen yogurt restaurant has struggled since it opened four years ago at 1173-B University Blvd.  There was not enough foot traffic to be profitable, and the frozen yogurt fad faded.

Latino Liaison for Purple Line

Stokes Creative Group, Inc., a full-service marketing and public outreach firm specializing in the transportation and construction industries, seeks full-time bilingual Spanish/English community outreach professional. Written/spoken fluency required to coordinate outreach efforts, translate documents and attend public outreach meetings in an effort to involve the Spanish-speaking community in large public projects. Takoma/Langley Food Drive

Nonperishable food donations are needed for the 16th Annual Christmas Food Basket for Needy Families in Langley Park. This food drive is organized by The Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association/Hispanic National Law Enforcement Association (HAPCOA/HNLEA) & United Black Police Officers Association (UBPOA).  Please drop off your canned, packaged, and bottled food donations,on December 16, between 6:00am-3:00pm at 8102 Tahona Drive (in apartment complex behind Langley Park Shopping Center), The baskets will be put together by volunteers on 12/16 and distributed to recipients, so consider volunteering to help with this event. Ongoing Winter Coat Drive

Takoma Park Police and the Lion's Club are collecting clean and wearable winter coats and accessories for distribution to homeless and needy individuals.  Please drop off donations at the Takoma Park Police Station, 7500 Maple Avenue (lower level). All donations will be given to Shepherd’s Table’s clothing closet and Sligo Adventist Church, to distribute. Contact Cathy Plevy for information at 301-891-7142.

Takoma Park Police will be hosting a blood drive sponsored by the Red Cross.  All blood types are needed; snacks and drinks will be provided. Please avoid taking aspirin 48 hours prior to donating and you must be over 110 pounds to donate.
