Wellow Village Hall Committee
An opportunity to bring low-cost Superfast broadband to the Wellow/Shoscombe area. Most of us in the villages are only able to receive the BT service which operates through the dilapidated telephone lines which are not going to be updated for the foreseeable future. This service is substandard.
As I understand it, the Devon and Somerset Community voucher scheme has identified a commercial provider (Voneus) who are willing to provide a satellite-based service at a very competitive rate - cheaper than BT
I have reviewed the details and if they provide the service described, this will be a significant improvement both in terms of price and service to many households and will increase the value of properties.
Go to
www.connectingdevonandsomerset.co.uk for further details
There is a time constraint in that the service provider requires submissions of intent before Nov 30th.
I confirm that I have no vested interest in this proposal.

Following our SOBA meeting on Wednesday I am requesting on behalf of the group help to enlist a representative from Wellow. Wellow village is on the Western side of the proposed Sulis Down development and SOBA believe it will be significantly affected by the building of a new estate on the plateau with regards to additional traffic.
We would like a representative who is willing to attend our meetings (next one planned for January 2017), join our email list & be our link into the village & contact point for the group.
I collate the Sulis Meadows Neighbourhood Watch newsletter & I am one of the founding members of SOBA & live on the Sulis Meadows estate with my family.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards

SOBA comprises local residents’ groups and parish councils who originally opposed the building of any homes on the South Stoke Plateau but who now want to ensure that the developers—the Hignett Family Trust (HFT) and Bloor Homes—create the best possible living environment for both existing residents and those moving into the new homes.
As an aide memoire for those who have kindly agreed to be on the Flower Rota for St. Julian’s Church we will publish a weekly reminder for the coming week’s named Flower arranger.

Safari Supper
2016
We are delighted to announce that this year’s Safari Supper will be raising funds for the Wellow Community Chest Fund!
Please put Saturday 3 December in your diaries!
Once again, we will be starting our evening at 6.45pm at our wonderful church, St Julian’s, where we will have a festive glass of mulled wine before setting off on Safari for starters and main courses. We will all reconvene at St Julian’s for puddings and a “toast to our hosts”.
To join us please email either Beth or Sarah by THIS Friday 18 November, letting us know if you are happy to host either a starter or main course in your home, make a pudding or just go on Safari! Please also let us know of any dietary requirements.
This year we are looking for a maximum of 8/10 Starter hosts, 8/10 Main Course hosts, and 8 Pudding Makers and we are aiming to keep the numbers to tables of 8 people maximum. First come, first served!
£5 a head for Main Course Hosts/£10 a head for Starter Hosts/£15 a head for pudding makers/£20 a head for all other participants plus a bottle of fizz.
