Dear members,
It has been a great privilege to serve the Club as President over the last financial year 2015/2016. It has been a challenging but accomplished year for the club. Here are some of the highlights:
|
|
|
- The long standing General Manager, Phillip Taylor-Bartels, retired at last year’s AGM after 23 years of extraordinary service.
- Our Member Services Manager, John Macaulay, was identified as the best candidate to become the General Manager. The Club is very pleased that John has taken on this challenge, and the committee looks forward to working with him in the years ahead.
- Under John’s leadership Club revenue has increased despite increased competition on the campus and pressure on memberships. The Club is in a healthy financial position.
- Active engagement with the University’s senior management and departments such as Chancellery, Infrastructure Services, Advancement and Alumni Relations are helping University House find its place in the evolving campus community.
- More Member-focused and initiated events have been introduced and the trial membership campaign continues.
- Promotion of Functions and Events across both our venues.
- New initiatives include our Book Club, art exhibits, music nights, golf day coupled with our Quiz and Food and Wine events. The Matthaei Glass sub-committee has been re-established.
- New and upgraded furniture has been ordered for the Leather Room and Front and Garden Lounges.
- The commencement of a Business Review project for UH with the assistance of Chancellery
The key agenda/initiatives in 2016:
- Complete Business Review in conjunction with UoM Project Services
- Finalise a strategic plan for UH for next five years
- Renovation of Member Services Area of Professor walk
- New disabled toilet @ Professor walk

Club Christmas/New Year Closure
|
|
UH Professors' Walk:
University House Professors' Walk will close after lunch on Friday December 23, 2016 and will re-open on Tuesday January 3, 2017 with limited trading hours.
- Coffee Bar: 10.00 am - 2.30pm
- Cafeteria 11.45am - 2.00pm
- Licensed Bar 12 noon - 3.00pm
UH@Woodward:
University House at the Woodward will close after lunch on Friday December 23, 2016 and will re-open on Monday January 23, 2016 with normal service.

Most members will be aware that towards the end of each year, in lieu of tips, members are encouraged to contribute to our Staff Fund. In fact, contributions can be made throughout the year.

University House once again had many fabulous wine events last month. Notably the Bass Philip wine dinner with Phillip Jones (see Phillip and University House President Deli Chen above), and the University House 2016 Champagne Expo.
