Community pharmacy in Greater Manchester faces huge challenges and opportunities right now. Funding cuts of £113m mean the average contractor stands to lose £30,000 a year. (Income will drop by 12% from December 2016 to March 2017, with a further 7.5% cut in 2017/18.)

So what do we need to do next? And how can community pharmacists and pharmacy teams minimise the impact and protect services for patients?

The good news is that there are opportunities – and with Greater Manchester devolution we also have the power to transform the way we work with others in primary, community, acute and social care.

The GMLPC has set up a reporting tool for Community Pharmacists to log supply issues. You can access this tool here or by copy this link into your browser:

This is a new tool launched in November 2016 by GMLPC building on the tool utilised in the Manchester and Salford and Trafford LPC.

The tool is organic, it can be adapted and changed so we welcome your thoughts, we just don’t want to make it too long!

Going forward the LPC will update our newsletter with prevalent stock issues and we will also report all supply issues direct to the relevant medicines management teams.

Registration is now open for the final two webinars in PSNC’s series detailing the changes to the upcoming Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF).

The webinars are taking place to help community pharmacy contractors to understand the imposition of funding and other changes recently made by the Government, as well as giving the opportunity to ask members of the PSNC team questions. The webinars will be held on consecutive Wednesdays in November.

The third webinar, on Quality Payments and what they mean for you, is scheduled for Wednesday 23rd November at 7.30pm. On the night Alastair Buxton, PSNC Director of NHS Services, will explain how the new Quality Payments will work. He will outline the criteria and help you identify ways in which to meet them.

The final webinar is scheduled for Wednesday 30th November at 7.30pm. During this webinar Alastair will explain how the Urgent Medicine Supply Service pilot will operate. He will also outline the service requirements and make sure you know where to find resources to help you manage the service.
